THE URBAN LEAGUE OF GREATER OKLAHOMA CITY

Oklahoma Gas & Electric (OG&E) is expanding its partnership with the Urban League of Greater Oklahoma City to increase diversity in the energy industry. OG&E’s foundation, the OGE Energy Corp Foundation, Inc., awarded a $175,000 grant to the Urban League, and OG&E will work with the nonprofit to provide energy industry training and create awareness of career opportunities with OG&E and its contractors.

 

 

REDUCING FLEET VEHICLE EMISSIONS

OG&E, a recognized industry leader in emissions reductions, recently announced its goal to decrease emissions from the company’s fleet vehicles by 60% over current levels by 2030. The company will replace 50% of light duty vehicles (LDVs) with electric vehicles (EVs) by 2025 and 100% of LDVs with EVs by 2030. In addition, OG&E will begin replacing its medium and heavy-duty trucks with more fuel-efficient vehicles. These will include vehicles with Electric Power Take Off (EPTO) equipment, where possible. OG&E DONATES $75,000 TO FUND MENTAL HEALTH RESOURCES FOR FRONTLINE HEALTHCARE WORKERS

OG&E’s parent company, OGE Energy Corp., and its foundation, the OGE Energy Corp. Foundation, Inc. donated a combined $75,000 to three hospital foundations to fund mental health services and initiatives for frontline healthcare workers. [READ MORE]

OG&E PRESENTS ENERGY EFFICIENCY CHECK TO OKC FOR NEW MAPS 3 CONVENTION CENTER

OG&E, the electric utility subsidiary of OGE Energy Corp., made a check presentation to the City of Oklahoma City for the energy efficiency measures taken in the construction of the new MAPS 3 convention center. The $262,108 check includes approximately $169,000 for the convention center and $93,000 for the parking garage. [READ MORE]

OG&E DONATES $500,000 TO PROVIDE STORM RELIEF TO LOCAL COMMUNITIES

In the aftermath of this week’s ice storm, OG&E parent company OGE Energy Corp. will donate $500,000 to help provide food, water, and temporary housing to Oklahomans impacted by weather damage and power outages. OGE ENERGY CORP. FOUNDATION ANNOUNCES $855,000 IN GRANTS TO 20 OKLAHOMA NONPROFITS

OG&E partners with community agencies in annual fan distribution

A pandemic couldn’t stop the OG&E’s Community Relations Coordinators from delivering fans to those in need. Over the summer, the team distributed fans to social service agencies serving low-income and senior residents in 12 communities across Oklahoma and western Arkansas. OG&E begins partnership with OKC Zoo & Botanical Garden

OGE Energy Corp. Foundation announces 2020 OGE Positive Energy Scholars, awards total of $180,000 in scholarships

Three Oklahoma high school seniors, along with their families, were surprised this week to learn that they will receive OGE Positive Energy Scholarships to help pay for college. Per year, each Positive Energy Scholar will receive $15,000, which is renewable annually for up to four years, or a total of $60,000 to cover tuition, fees, books or on-campus room and board. [READ]

OG&E volunteers weatherize homes in northeast OKC in honor of MLK Day

As part of OG&E’s Silver Energy Program, which offers seniors residential energy-efficiency choices designed to increase comfort, safety and savings, and in partnership with the Urban League of Greater Oklahoma City, OG&E volunteers weatherized homes at Mount Olive Senior Cottages development in Northeast Oklahoma City. The project was part of a dedicated week of service across the company’s service area in celebration of the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Sooner Power Plant and WCI team up to put bikes under Salvation Army’s Angel Tree

One of the most impressive childhood holiday memories is seeing a new bike under the tree. And this year, thanks to members at OG&E’s Sooner Power Plant, 200 children in the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree program in Stillwater and Enid, Oklahoma will have that experience. Waste Connections Inc. (WCI), ​a contract company for Sooner Power Plant, purchased the bikes as part of its annual Build-a-Bike program, and members from the Sooner Power Plant (along with several WCI employees) assembled the bikes.
