OG&E partners with community agencies in annual fan distribution

A pandemic couldn’t stop the OG&E’s Community Relations Coordinators from delivering fans to those in need. Over the summer, the team distributed fans to social service agencies serving low-income and senior residents in 12 communities across Oklahoma and western Arkansas.

This was the 14th year for the annual fan donations – part of OG&E’s Silver Energy® Program, which provides seniors with a suite of programs and services designed to save them money on their energy bills, while increasing comfort, safety and security.

“We worked in partnership with agencies in our communities that work directly with seniors and those in need,” said Kirby Nickolas, Manager of Brand, Engagement and Partnerships. “Many of these agencies are focused on seniors who benefited from a fan, as well as the other programs and services offered by our Silver Energy® Program.”

In Oklahoma City, the team delivered fans to Areawide Aging Agency, Sunbeam Family Services, The Salvation Army Central Oklahoma Area Command and Community Action Agency. Agencies distributed fans to seniors and low-income residents based on each agency’s criteria.

Areawide Aging Agency has partnered with OG&E to receive fans for the past 14 years. Their CEO Blair Schoeb is grateful for the partnership.

“There is a lot we couldn’t do without the support of OG&E, including fan giveaways. OG&E has a huge heart when it comes to the aged population and we are fortunate enough to be one of the instruments they use to carry out that service,” said Schoeb.
