OG&E announces goal of reducing fleet vehicle emissions by 60% by 2030

OG&E, a recognized industry leader in emissions reductions, recently announced its goal to decrease emissions from the company’s fleet vehicles by 60% over current levels by 2030.

“At OG&E, we energize life for our customers and our communities,” said Director of Environmental Affairs & Fed Public Policy, Usha Turner. “Delivering safe, reliable and affordable electricity to our customers is balanced by our commitment to minimize our environmental footprint. Recognizing that mobile sources are now the largest source of CO2, we are taking aggressive action to address emissions reductions.”

As part of the company’s strategy to reduce fleet emissions, OG&E plans to replace 50% of their light duty vehicles (LDVs) with electric vehicles (EVs) by 2025 and 100% of their LDVs with EVs by 2030. In addition, the company will also begin replacing its medium and heavy-duty trucks with more fuel-efficient vehicles and with vehicles that use Electric Power Take Off (EPTO) equipment, where possible.

“These emissions reductions goals are in addition to our larger carbon reduction expectations, which, consistent with the recommendations of the Paris Agreement, are to reduce overall CO2 emissions to 50% below 2005 levels by 2030. We’re well on our way to achieving this goal and taking these additional steps toward emissions reductions will get us that much closer,” Turner said.
